Kitty invites aspiring fiction writers, from the beginner to the befuddled and the blocked, to join her in a writing retreat.

The setting is a dramatic mountain ridge in southern Spain, 20 minutes’ drive from the coast and an hour from Malaga International Airport.  Kitty is also an award winning sculptor and her two acre gardens is a sculpture park for select groups of art lovers. The landscape and the gardens provide an inspiring and memorable setting, along with stunning views, in which to unchain your creativity and sharpen your writing skills.

Casa Sofia. Accommodation is in a house in a nearby village. The house has two bedrooms (photos available on request) but can accommodate 4 comfortably. The village of Otivar is ancient, of Arabic origins and very quaint and friendly. It’s set on a mountain slope and the residential quarter cannot be entered by car. An ability to walk up 50 steps to cars, bars and restaurants is essential.

Participants are ideally known to each other, booking as a group, and 2-4 in number.

Kitty offers to read, ahead of your arrival, up to fifteen thousand words of your short story, your manuscript, synopsis, essay or selection of ideas, in essentially any genre or subject except poetry. During individual workshops she’ll share her thoughts and offer feedback and guidance where wanted. She is happy to work with absolute beginners and discuss topics, ideas and genres to get you started.

Your day would consist of individual morning meetings with Kitty, followed by lunch, then group discussion, writing exercises, mutual feedback if wanted, ending around 2.30 p.m. The gardens provide a great many wonderful spaces in which to write undisturbed during the morning session.

The afternoons offer an opportunity to explore the white villages in the area, hike the many mountain trails, visit the world-famous Moorish El Alhambra Palace in Granada, the Picasso Museum in Malaga or the spectacular Nerja Caves, drink wine and eat free tapas (a wonderful local custom), go shopping, or simply soak up the sun on the miles of nearby beaches.

Cost per participant / 6 day workshop / 7 days accommodation:

Group of 2 = € 775
Group of 3 = € 675
Group of 4 = € 575

Cost includes all editing, guidance and workshops, accommodation in separate village house, coffee, tea and lunch 5-6 days (as requested).

Non-participating friends/partners/spouses welcome at accommodation-only rate.
There are several bars and restaurants in the village for evening meals, and one night club.
Transportation is the responsibility of visitors, unless under separate arrangement. A rental car will give freedom of movement and much enhance your stay. Malaga Cars offer cheap rentals from the airport.
